Terms governing the use of our website and banking services
General Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the UCO Bank Hong Kong Branch website and all banking services provided by UCO Bank. UCO Bank is a Government of India Undertaking, Bank Incorporated in India with Limited Liability.
By accessing or using this website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms, along with our Privacy Policy and any other applicable policies.
Account Opening & KYC Requirements
All accounts are opened subject to the Bank's satisfaction regarding:
- Completion of KYC (Know Your Customer) formalities as per RBI and HKMA guidelines
- Verification of identity, address, and source of funds
- FATCA and CRS compliance declarations
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations
- Submission of all required documents in original or certified true copies
The Bank reserves the right to refuse account opening or to close accounts without assigning any reason.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Deposits:
- Deposits are accepted subject to realization and Bank's terms
- The Bank reserves the right to refuse any deposit without assigning reason
- Interest rates are subject to change without prior notice
- Premature withdrawal of fixed deposits may attract penalty charges
Withdrawals:
- Withdrawals must be made in accordance with account type and regulations
- The Bank may require advance notice for large cash withdrawals
- Service charges apply as per the published schedule
- Identification may be required for cash withdrawals
Cheque Operations
- Cheques are issued subject to availability of funds in the account
- The Bank is not liable for cheques lost in transit or stolen
- Stop payment requests must be made in writing with proper details
- Cheque return charges apply as per schedule
- Post-dated cheques will be paid on the date mentioned
- Customers must inform the Bank immediately of any cheque book loss
Foreign Exchange & Remittances
- All foreign exchange transactions are subject to FEMA regulations and RBI guidelines
- Exchange rates are indicative and may change without prior notice
- The Bank applies buying/selling rates prevailing at the time of transaction
- Remittances are subject to regulatory approvals and documentation requirements
- Correspondent bank charges may apply for international transfers
- The Bank is not liable for delays caused by intermediary banks
Exchange Rate Risk: Foreign currency deposits involve exchange rate risk. Adverse movements may result in loss of principal or interest earnings.
Loan & Credit Facilities
- All credit facilities are sanctioned at the sole discretion of the Bank
- Interest rates and charges are as per the Bank's schedule and subject to change
- Loans are subject to proper documentation, security, and guarantees
- The Bank reserves the right to recall loans or reduce limits at any time
- Defaults in repayment may attract penal charges and legal action
- Credit information may be shared with credit bureaus
Service Charges & Fees
Service charges and fees are levied as per the Bank's published schedule. The Bank reserves the right to:
- Modify service charges with reasonable notice
- Introduce new charges for services
- Debit charges directly from customer accounts
- Levy charges for non-maintenance of minimum balance
- Charge for account closures within specified periods
Customer Obligations
Customers are required to:
- Provide accurate and complete information to the Bank
- Update KYC information periodically and notify changes in contact details
- Maintain confidentiality of passwords, PINs, and account information
- Review account statements regularly and report discrepancies promptly
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Use banking services only for lawful purposes
- Maintain minimum balances as required
Liability & Indemnity
The Bank shall not be liable for:
- Loss or damage arising from force majeure events
- Delays in processing due to regulatory requirements or systems failure
- Unauthorized transactions resulting from customer negligence
- Acts or omissions of correspondents, agents, or third parties
- Loss arising from forgery, fraud (unless due to Bank's negligence)
- Errors in information provided by the customer
Customers agree to indemnify and hold the Bank harmless against all losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising from breach of these terms or misuse of banking services.
Account Closure
Either party may close an account by giving written notice:
- Customers must submit account closure request in writing
- All dues, charges, and outstanding obligations must be settled
- Unused cheque books must be returned
- The Bank may close accounts for non-operation, KYC non-compliance, or suspicious activity
- Closure charges may apply as per the schedule
- Credit balance will be paid after adjusting all dues

Amendments
The Bank reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on the website and will take effect immediately upon posting or as specified. Continued use of our services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong SAR and India, as applicable. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Hong Kong SAR.
