About Us
A legacy of trust and service in Hong Kong since 1952.
Presence in Hong Kong
In the year 1952 UCO Bank was the first Indian commercial bank to set up a branch at Hong Kong. In fact, the Bank got the certificate of commencement of business and registered as a Licensed Bank in Hong Kong with effect from 18/3/1952.
Other Indian banks to follow were IOB, BOI and SBI. We may recall that at that point of time, UCO Bank was a private commercial bank owned by the Birla Group of India and Hong Kong was a colony of the British Empire.
A considerable share of Hong Kong business covering imports and exports was being handled by Indian traders who came from India as also other parts of the world. Bank's operation in Hong Kong was established with an idea to meet the banking needs of ethnic Indian businessmen.
Our Main branch in Hong Kong started functioning from a rented premises at No. 4, Queen's Road, Central, Hong Kong and in the year 1965 the branch was shifted to Prince's Building, Statue Square.

UCO Bank India
Established in 1943, the Bank got its new Head Office building at 10, Brabourne Road (now known as Biplabi Trailokya Maharaj Sarani) in 1964. The edifice conveyed the soothing effect of impressionistic art rather than the sharpness of Gothic angularities.
The year 1985 opened a new chapter for the Bank. The name of the Bank was changed to UCO Bank by an Act of Parliament. The Bank which was born as The United Commercial Bank Ltd in 1943 and came to be known as United Commercial Bank from 1969, acquired a small and sleek name, UCO Bank from the 30th December, 1985.
The Bank also has strong presence in two very important South-East Asian financial centres namely Singapore and Hong Kong.
